Ben Stein told Newsmax TV "the news media is starting to push Trump around" in light of the numerous leaks and negative coverage of President Donald Trump.
"The media is starting to smell blood in the water — and they're going to go after him all the more," the economist, actor and former Richard Nixon speechwriter told Tuesday's "The Steve Malzberg Show."
That retired Army Gen. Michael Flynn might have discussed sanctions against Russia by the Obama administration with Moscow's ambassador to the United States "before Mr. Trump became president was perfectly kosher," Stein said.
"I don't see what's wrong with this at all."
Flynn resigned late Monday after Trump requested he step down amid concerns the former adviser might have misled the administration on his conversations with the Russian official.
"I'm just worried that the media made a big deal out of it — and now they're trying to control Trump.
"If Trump bows to that, the media is not going to stop," Stein said. "It's going to go after him all the harder."
