Rep. Anthony D'Esposito, R-N.Y., who sits on the Transportation and Infrastructure committee, told Newsmax that the Biden FAA has not been transparent regarding many issues.
The head of the FAA, Michael Whitaker, is scheduled to testify on Capitol Hill on Tuesday to explain why the airline industry has seen an uptick in near misses and midair incidents the past several months.
"We sent a letter to the FAA administrator over 100 days ago regarding the FAA's plans to house illegal migrants at airports and FAA sites, and it was signed by dozens and dozens of members of the House of Representatives and like much of the Biden administration, it's been completely ignored."
D'Esposito told "National Report" that while many of his colleagues plan to focus on travelers' safety, his role in the hearings will be to get answers for the American people on the housing of illegal migrants at airports.
The transportation hearing comes as result of the grounding of 171 MAX 9 jets on Jan. 6 immediately following Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 when a piece of the aircraft flew off mid-air creating a terrifying emergency landing scenario for all on board.
Investigators seek to have the FAA explain Boeing's perceived lack of oversight in the wake of multiple aircraft malfunctions.
On the same day the transportation hearing is being held, the House is scheduled to vote on the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
As a former New York Police Department detective, D'Esposito was confident the investigation was done properly.
"I've said time and time again that this was a thorough, comprehensive investigation," he said. "It wasn't rushed. I spent a career in the NYPD as a detective investigator and this is an investigation that I would be proud to present to a prosecutor."
