Even though the Department of Justice appears to be taking a tougher stance on Hunter Biden as it relates to federal gun and tax charges, Republican Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey told Newsmax on Wednesday he doubts President Joe Biden's son will spend any time behind bars.
Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty last year to three felony charges related to the unlawful purchase and possession of a revolver while he was a drug user. He also has pleaded not guilty to nine federal charges, including three felony counts, which accuse him of failing to file and pay taxes, tax evasion, and filing a false tax return.
"No, absolutely not," Bailey told "Rob Schmit Tonight" when asked if Hunter Biden will serve prison time.
Bailey is part the Missouri v. Biden case, which suggested widespread censhorship. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans in September granted a preliminary injunction limiting some executive branch officials' discussions with social media companies about controversial online posts. But the U.S. Supreme Court in October placed a temporary stay on the order until it decides the case, which it expects to do in its current term.
Bailey has condemned what he believes was a manipulation of the 2020 election committed by government agencies. A key part of that was a report by the New York Post in October 2020 regarding Hunter Biden's laptop, which Joe Biden and other government officials accused of being a Russian disinformation plot.
The story was pulled from social media sites and most news media organizations wouldn't report on it. But information on the laptop has since been authenticated.
"This is the deep state at its absolute worst," Bailey said. "These are the enemies of truth and freedom. Certainly, we had evidence in the case of Missouri v. Biden that uncovered the worst First Amendment violations in this nation's history, one of which was the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
"... This is a shameful blemish on the history of this nation. They should be ashamed of themselves. They should be locked up, fired. There should be serious consequences for anyone who participated in this conspiracy to subvert the will of the people at the ballot box in 2020."
