President Donald Trump may soon boot Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross out of office over his handling of the Census Bureau, a new report claims.

CNBC reported Monday morning that Ross, 81, might be the next cabinet head to depart the Trump administration. Nine have left to date, along with dozens of other officials.

Trump, according to CNBC, has spoken with allies outside the White House about replacing Ross with someone else in the wake of the Supreme Court's ruling that the administration cannot include a citizenship question on the 2020 Census. The White House has also not been pleased with some of the trade negotiations Ross and his team have held with China.

Further, Ross has gotten himself into a handful of controversies during his time in office, stemming from his personal finances to comments he made regarding the government shutdown earlier this year.

One stumbling block to removing Ross would be finding someone to replace him, CNBC noted.

Trump and Ross have known each other for more than 25 years.
