West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey's gubernatorial campaign is celebrating dominance over the competition in the fourth quarter fundraising totals, raising more than every other major candidate combined, including the Democrat.
Morrisey's campaign is dominating fundraising over his chief GOP primary rival Moore Capito, son of Sen. Shelley Capito, R-W.Va., along with Huntington, West Virginia, Mayor Steve Williams, the campaign wrote in a release posted to X.
"West Virginians know that I am the only candidate in the race who will hit the ground running and continue delivering conservative victories on Day 1 as governor," Morrisey said in a statement. "The outpouring of support my campaign has received is an honor."
Morrisey raised almost $600,000 in the fourth quarter alone and has raised more than $2.5 million since he announced his candidacy, boasting more than $2 million cash on hand, according to the campaign.
The Morrisey campaign also reported it has over $1 million more than Capito in spending power in the GOP primary, at $1.9 million, outraising his rivals by a nearly 2-1 margin since he declared.
"With a consistent polling advantage, an unmatched conservative record, key endorsements from across the state and the nation and a sweeping financial edge, it's clear that West Virginians will choose Patrick Morrisey as their next governor," Morrisey campaign senior strategist Jai Chabria wrote in a statement.
The Q4 fundraising for Morrisey came from 20,626 donors for an average donation of $24.77.
A fourth-quarter poll for the West Virginia gubernatorial primary had Morrisey as an 8-point leader over the field:
- Morrisey, 31%
- Capito, 23%
- Mac Warner, 14%
- Chris Miller, 10%
