The Republicans' $1.5 trillion tax overhaul is bringing renewed prosperity to Texas and nationwide, Vice President Mike Pence said in a speech in Dallas Saturday.
"Growth is back," he said during his half-hour speech, delivered while he headlined an event hosted by America First Policies, a group formed to back President Donald Trump's agenda, reports The Dallas Morning News.
Pence pointed to companies such as AT&T and Southwest Airlines, both based in Dallas, and how they have announced $1,000 employee bonuses in recent weeks because of the tax cut legislation passed in December.
So far, he told the audience, almost 88,000 Texans have received a "Trump bonus," and told them the tax cuts were only one of the "promises made and promises kept" by Trump.
"Jobs are coming back, and America is back, once again," Pence said.
Pence arrived in Texas on Friday for a two-day stopover aimed at touting the Republican Party's efforts.
On Friday, the vice-president toured the border, and has been fundraising in Dallas and San Antonio. He plans to wrap up his visit with a keynote speech Saturday night at the Dallas County GOP Reagan Day Dinner.
Pence on Saturday predicted that growth would continue, and taxpayers in Texas and other states will start to see larger paychecks as their tax withholdings drop.
"Very soon, the impact of what happened nearly two months ago will start to take its full effect on the American economy," said Pence.
