Vice President Mike Pence touted tax cuts and promised the "best is yet to come" for Texas - and America - ahead of his trip to the Lone Star State this weekend.

In a column he wrote for The Dallas Morning News, Pence said the administration of President Donald Trump has been "keeping our promises to the Lone Star State."

"But we're just getting started. America is poised to enter a new era of growth and optimism, because just two months ago, with the strong support of Texas' Republican leaders in Congress, we passed the largest tax cuts and tax reform in American history," Pence wrote.

Pence wrote that a typical Texas family of four would save $2,200 in 2018.

"Since Christmas, nearly 90,000 Texas workers have received bonuses averaging just over $1,000, and many Texas workers have received raises. But the best is yet to come, because in the years ahead, American households can expect to see their paychecks rise by about $4,000 each," Pence wrote.

Pence is traveling to Texas on Friday, first to San Antonio and then on to Dallas for GOP fundraising with a trip to the border wedged in between.

"It's been just over a year since President Trump and I took office, yet even in these difficult times, we've made historic progress, and we've turned America around. But as the good people of Texas know, the question isn't how far we've come. It's how much further we'll go in the days ahead," Pence concluded.
