Former President Barack Obama's senior adviser Valerie Jarrett has signed with Creative Artists Agency, a top Hollywood talent agency, which will represent her for speaking engagements and other work as she re-enters the private sector, Politico Playbook reports.
Jarrett worked in the White House for each of Obama's four-year terms as leader of the offices of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, after having worked on his transition team.
In an early-January interview with CBS 2 Chicago, Jarrett sidestepped a question of whether she plans to run for political office herself.
"I want spend some time continuing to be a force for good," she said.
"It's premature for me to even speculate on something as important as that," Jarrett continued. "I think that's the kind of decision you have to make when you are well-rested and well-relaxed and have some distance from this experience, and it's not a decision one should make lightly."
She added that "after eight years of living away, whenever someone says where do you live I always say in Chicago, I'm visiting D.C., but I live in Chicago so, I look forward to being able to spend more time back home."
CAA, which normally represents actors and athletes, is gradually moving into representing politicians. Former Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., signed with CAA after leaving Congress earlier in January.
Jarrett recently advised Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law who will hold the same position she did in the administration, to "listen to the American people," during an appearance on CNN.
"Make sure you stay in touch with them. Make sure you have your pulse on them."
"Washington can swallow you up whole and I think it's incumbent upon all of us to remember every single day who we're here to serve," she added. "We're here to serve you, the American people."
