Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has issued a contrite mea culpa for boasting on social media he had received a 10 percent discount at a Chick-fil-A restaurant.
Dorsey's apology came after his post was blasted as distasteful because it promoted – during LGBT Pride Month – a fast-food, fried-chicken chain whose president Dan Cathy has come out against gay marriage.
When former CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien saw the message, which also said "Boost @ChickfilA" she replied, "This is an interesting company to boost during Pride month, Jack."
Dorsey answered: "You're right. Completely forgot about their background."
Cathy sparked a furor when he said he disagreed with same sex-marriage and supported a "biblical definition of family."
LGBT Pride Month is celebrated every June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, considered the birth of the gay rights movement.
