President Donald Trump sent out two more messages on Twitter Wednesday morning warning about the dangers of the approaching caravans of migrants walking towards the U.S. border in Mexico.
“The Caravans are made up of some very tough fighters and people,” the president wrote in a tweet. “Fought back hard and viciously against Mexico at Northern Border before breaking through. Mexican soldiers hurt, were unable, or unwilling to stop Caravan. Should stop them before they reach our Border, but won’t!”
A second tweet said, “Our military is being mobilized at the Southern Border. Many more troops coming. We will NOT let these Caravans, which are also made up of some very bad thugs and gang members, into the U.S. Our Border is sacred, must come in legally. TURN AROUND!”
A search on the internet of credible news outlets which have reporters on the scene covering the caravans found no evidence that there have been large numbers of injured Mexican security forces, according to Roll Call.
The president did not detail from where he received his information.
Roll Call also said that reports from Mexico describe one of the migrant caravans moving toward the border as largely made up of young people and the other composed mostly of women and children.
Descriptions of violence from these reports have been limited to rock-throwing members of the caravans or the caravans using their large numbers to climb over fences or overwhelm outnumbered Mexican security personnel.
