Former President Donald Trump's campaign on Friday released a new video ad to remind voters how the economy thrived during his administration compared to its state under President Joe Biden.
The 30-second video, titled "History Lesson," highlights an economic downturn that has affected take-home pay, mortgage rates and investments.
"Everywhere you look, Trump beats Biden on the economy," a male voice says in the video. "Take-home pay? Up six grand under Trump. Under Biden, down $7,000. Mortgage rates — low under Trump, punishing under Biden. Personal and retirement investments up 40% under Trump. Under Biden, your investments fell, along with other things.
"Trump, he'll make America's economy great … again."
The video also includes text showing that gas prices "doubled under Biden," and mortgage rates rose from 3% under Trump to 5% under Biden.
When mentioning that investments fell "along with other things," the video shows Biden falling on the stairs leading to Air Force One.
"Biden refuses to talk about the unfairness of his disastrous, failed 'Bidenomics' policies — which have handed Americans sky-high interest rates, record-high inflation, doubled gas prices, falling wages, and crashing investments — but we will," Trump campaign's said in a release announcing the new ad.
"Perhaps, the only thing more unpopular than crooked Joe Biden are his failed economic policies — with 53% of voters saying Bidenomics personally hurt them."
The Wall Street Journal last month reported survey results in which Bidenomics is viewed favorably by less than 30% of voters and unfavorably by more than half.
Trump currently is the clear front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are battling for the No. 2 position in the GOP primary field as the Jan. 15 Iowa caucus and Jan. 23 New Hampshire primary approach.
"While Ron DeSanctus and Nikki Haley spend millions of dollars attacking each other, battling for first-place loser in Iowa, President Trump is taking the fight directly to crooked Joe Biden," the Trump campaign said.
"Voters have not forgotten the strength of the Trump economy, and in November 2024, they'll re-elect President Donald J. Trump."
