Rep. Ted Lieu on Monday offered his support for fellow California Democrat Sen. Kamala Harris, who is running for president in the 2020 election.
"I endorse [Kamala Harris] for president,” Lieu tweeted Monday morning, the day after the senator formally launched her campaign at a rally in Oakland, where she was born and raised.
The congressman added that he’s "known Kamala for many years and worked together on various issues. She embraces the future, not the past, and is the person we need to move America forward."
He then invited people to watch Harris’ Town Hall on CNN Monday night, where the senator will answer questions in Iowa.
Harris will compete for the Democratic nomination against fellow Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and possibly Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., should they choose to enter the race.
