Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, on Sunday tweeted to President Donald Trump that Russian interference in U.S. elections is undeniable following special counsel Robert Mueller's indictment of 13 Russians and three Russian companies for election meddling.

The indictment by Mueller on Friday represents the most direct allegation to date of illegal Russian meddling and says the Russians targeted the presidential election with "information warfare" intended to sow discord among Americans. The charges also say the Russians communicated with "unwitting individuals" associated with the Trump campaign and other political activists to coordinate activities.

Grassley on Saturday also tweeted that Trump should tell Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to "butt out of our elections" and "quit the cyber warfare interference in our democracy."

Putin has pushed back on claims he had anything to do with an influence campaign, and Trump on Sunday claimed he "never said Russia did not meddle in the election."
