Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is preparing to help former President Donald Trump raise funds for the 2024 campaign.
DeSantis, who ran against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination but ended his campaign in January, reportedly has begun calling potential donors and his financial team is reportedly arranging a fundraising tour that would take him through Florida and Texas.
Dallas-based investor Ron Bailey, the former co-chair of the DeSantis campaign's national finance committee, told The Associated Press that the governor has "shown his commitment to the president, and that's why I say we'll follow his lead, and why I think donors will follow his lead."
Bailey added: "We will be focused on past DeSantis donors who have yet to donate to President Trump. We're going to try to mine those donors for him. That will create a lot of value."
Trump previously wrote on Truth Social that he had a "great meeting" with DeSantis last month.
"I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida," Trump said.
Trump added, "The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Also discussed was the future of Florida, which is FANTASTIC! I greatly appreciate Ron's support in taking back our Country from the Worst President in the History of the United States. November 5th is a BIG DAY!!!"
