Christian Broadcasting Network founder Pat Robertson said Wednesday that Alabama’s proposed abortion ban is an “extreme law,” predicting “this one’ll lose” if argued before the Supreme Court.

In remarks on “The 700 Club,” Robertson said Alabama lawmakers went “too far.”

The remarks start at the 9:40-minute mark.

“I think Alabama has gone too far, they’ve passed a law that would give a 99-year prison sentence to those who commit abortions,” Robertson said.

“There’s no exception for rape or incest. It’s an extreme law and they want to challenge Roe v. Wade, but my humble view is that this is not the case we want to bring to the Supreme Court because I think this one’ll lose.”

The Alabama bill is part of a nationwide push by anti-abortion activists to get a state abortion ban all the way up to the United States Supreme Court, where they hope that the conservative majority will undo the landmark 1973 legislation that legalized abortion nationwide.

The Alabama legislation awaits Republican Gov. Kay Ivey, who has withheld comment on whether she’ll sign it, but has been an opponent of abortion.
