Trump Calls Out 'Fake News Media,' Touts Rising Approval Numbers

President Donald Trump threw a jab at the media Friday while calling out his approval numbers.

Trump posted this tweet Friday afternoon:

Can you believe that despite 93% bad stories from the Fake News Media (should be getting good stories), today we had just about our highest Poll Numbers, including those on Election Day? The American public is wise to the phony an dishonest press. Make America Great Again!

It's unclear which poll Trump was referring to. Friday's Rasmussen Reports Daily Presidential Tracking Poll gave Trump a 49 percent approval rating. At the start of this week, Trump garnered a 39 percent approval rating in Gallup's weekly poll.

The latest RealClear Politics average of Trump's approval rating is 41.8 percent.

As for Trump's 93 percent claim, he was likely referencing past studies that maintained the far majority of coverage of Trump and his administration on nightly network newscasts is negative.
