Only 15 percent of Americans are are looking forward to having political discussions this Thanksgiving, while 40 percent hope to avoid talking about politics over the holiday dinner, according to a CBS News poll released on Wednesday.
Forty-five percent do not care either way.
The wish to avoid political discussions over the holiday was fairly constant across the political spectrum, as only 19 percent of Republican supporters, 15 percent of Democrats and 12 percent of independents said they were looking forward to talking about the topic.
In any case, in each group, a plurality said that they did not care either way.
The poll was conducted by telephone November 15-18 among a random sample of 1,103 adults nationwide. The error due to sampling for results based on the entire sample could be plus or minus 3 percentage points.
