A majority of Republican voters want lawmakers to continue working on repealing and replacing Obamacare, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll released on Wednesday.
The results among Republican voters:
- Continue efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare: 67 percent.
- Republicans should move on to other issues: 21 percent.
- GOP should work with Democrats: 54 percent.
- Work only with Republicans: 39 percent.
Among all voters, regardless of party affiliation:
- Republicans should move on to other issues: 47 percent.
- Continue efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare: 40 percent.
- Don't know/no opinion: 13 percent.
Forty percent of voters approve of the GOP's healthcare bill, while 47 percent disapprove.
Breaking down that result, those who approved were evenly split — at 20 percent — between strongly approving of the bill and somewhat approving.
Among those who said they disapproved, more strongly rejected the bill:
- Strongly disapprove: 34 percent.
- Somewhat disapprove: 13 percent.
The Politico poll was conducted from July 7-9 among 1,983 registered voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percent.
