Perry: Panetta Should Resign in Protest of Cuts

Rick Perry said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta shouls resign in protest of the automatic defense cuts that President Barack Obama will have to allow to go forward following the failure of the Supercommittee.

“As a commander in chief, as an American citizen, that is totally … irresponsible,” Perry said. “If Leon Panetta is an honorable man, he should resign in protest.”

Perry said Obama was reprehensible to say that he would not block the defense spending reductions triggered by the lack of a debt-reduction deal.

“It was reprehensible for me, for this president to stand in front of Americans and say that half a trillion dollars is not gonna be on the table and we’re just gonna have to work our way through it,” Perry said.
