Investigators have "reason to believe" the person of interest in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has left New York City, police commissioner Jessica Tisch told CNN in an interview aired on Friday.
Investigators believe he arrived in the city Nov. 24 on a bus on an Atlanta-to-New York City route and have video of him entering a Port Authority bus center after the shooting.
“Those buses are interstate buses. That’s why we believe he may have left New York City,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said.
“We have video of him entering the Port Authority Bus Terminal. We don’t have any video of him exiting so we believe he may have gotten on a bus,” he later added.
The Atlanta Police Department said Friday that it will “be providing assistance as needed” but would not give any more information.
