N.H. Trooper, Governor's Detail Aid Driver in Fiery Crash

By    |   Wednesday, 01 April 2026 02:21 PM EDT

A trooper on New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte's security detail helped pull a driver from a burning car to safety Tuesday.

The governor also helped at the scene, police said.

"The trooper, without hesitation, responded to the vehicle along with a couple bystanders and proceeded to remove the male operator from the vehicle to provide aid," Col. Mark B. Hall said.

"Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did," Col. Mark B. Hall said in a statement. "Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it."

The incident happened around 11:55 a.m. Tuesday when a 51-year-old man from Massachusetts crashed into the Bedford Toll Plaza on the F.E. Everett Turnpike.

The vehicle caught on fire and the man was trapped.

"While units were responding, a veteran State Trooper assigned to Gov. Kelly Ayotte's security detail came upon the crash, saw that the vehicle was actively on fire, and observed the driver was still inside," police said.

"The driver was then pulled from the burning car through a window and brought to safety."

Police identified the driver as Yevgeny Mirman. He was taken to a nearby hospital with "serious" injuries.

"I want to thank the Trooper on my security detail and the bystanders who stepped up to help at the scene of the crash for their brave lifesaving efforts today," Ayotte, 57, said in a statement shared on X.

"Joe and I are praying for the full recovery of the driver who was injured today."
