Former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt endorsed former President Donald Trump in the 2024 GOP presidential primary race.
Laxalt, who ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2018 and the U.S. Senate in 2022, was among several politicians to back Trump after initially endorsing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who suspended his campaign on Sunday.
"I was proud to support a close friend who I knew in my heart would make for a transformational President," Laxalt posted Sunday on X with video of DeSantis' announcement. "While this was not his time, I know he will continue to show us tremendous leadership and be the best and most courageous Governor in America.
"President Trump deserves a chance to finish the job. The time to unite is now. I fully endorse him and encourage all Nevadans to Caucus for him on February 8th and quickly get on to defeating Joe Biden in November!"
Laxalt last month stepped down as chairman of the pro-DeSantis PAC Never Back Down.
Nevada is considered to be a key swing state in November's presidential election, which is expected to be a matchup between Trump and President Joe Biden.
Laxalt is the son of former former U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M., and grandson of former Nevada Gov. Paul Laxalt, R-Nev.
