President Trump met with former ambassador Nancy Brinker and Newsmax Media CEO Christopher Ruddy at the Oval Office Wednesday afternoon.
Brinker and Ruddy discussed with the president initiatives for cancer research to find a cure for the disease.
Brinker is the founder of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, a group supporting breast cancer detection and research. She has been a leading advocate for cancer prevention for almost 40 years.
A former U.S ambassador to Hungary, Brinker was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her advocacy and cancer prevention work on behalf of women.
"I am appreciative the president took time out of his busy schedule to discuss with me this health condition that affects millions of Americans," Brinker said.
"He clearly wants to make healthcare and cancer prevention a priority for his administration," she said. "He had great interest in the subject, and I look forward to helping him achieve his goals."
Ruddy, a longtime friend of the president, helped organize the meeting for Amb. Brinker. Brinker also hosts a Newsmax TV interview program.
