Blaise A. Taylor, a former member of the Arkansas State football team, was arrested in Utah on Thursday and charged with murdering his pregnant girlfriend, NBC News reported.
Taylor, 27, was indicted by a grand jury in Nashville, Tennessee, on two counts of murder for the death of his girlfriend, Jade Benning, who was five months pregnant, allegedly by Taylor.
Taylor is accused of poisoning Benning in February 2023 leading to her death the following month on her 25th birthday. Benning was reportedly brought to a hospital on Feb. 25, 2023 after having what Taylor said at the time was an allergic reaction. She was unable to communicate with the police before her death due to her condition.
Taylor had been living in Nashville while working for the Tennessee Titans in their pro scouting department before joining Utah State as a senior defense analyst before the start of the 2023 season, according to Sports Illustrated.
"Taylor had worked as an analyst with the USU football program since July 1, 2023," the school said in a statement. "The University is not involved in this law enforcement matter and all questions should be directed to the Metro Nashville Police Department."
