Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., pushed back against Donald Trump’s attacks on her intelligence, and renewed her call for Congress to impeach the president, the Washington Times reports.
“Don’t forget, this man who’s disparaging me has been called stupid, ignorant, uninformed, unhinged and a moron by his own staff and appointees,” Waters told a crowd at the J.W. Marriott during the Human Rights Campaign’s annual dinner in Los Angeles. “And so he had the nerve to attack me.”
Trump on Saturday during a rally in Pennsylvania called Waters a “very low I.Q. individual.”
"We have to defeat Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters, a very low I.Q. individual," Trump said, eliciting boos from the crowd. "You ever see her? You ever seen her? You ever see her? 'We will impeach him! We will impeach the president!' But he hasn't done anything wrong. It doesn't matter, we will impeach him! She's a low I.Q. individual. You can't help it. She really is."
Prior to the event at the Marriott, Waters told the Advocate that Trump needed to have an IQ test and that his criticism did not surprise her.
“I’ve been saying some things about him for a while. I think it's gotten to him, finally,” Waters said. “I’ve been very vocal, and I’ve been very confrontational almost. And I've been on the point calling for his impeachment, and I think that bothers him a lot.”
