A planned speaking engagement at a Brooklyn, New York, high school by ex-con and former pharmaceutical chief Martin Shkreli, has been abruptly canceled, the New York Post is reporting.
Shkreli, who is also known as "pharma bro" was convicted of raising the price of life-saving AIDS medication Daraprim after he got exclusive rights to it in 2015, by 5,455% from $17.50 a pill to $750.
Shkreli, a former top executive for Turing Pharmaceuticals, who is out of jail, had reportedly been invited to speak to student members of the Brooklyn Technical School's crypto club on Tuesday.
He addressed the cancellation in a Monday post on X, saying" "**NYC Department of Education commands Shkreli event at Brooklyn Tech Crypto Club shut down.**"
And the crypto club, in a Instagram post, said: "We will be having a NORMAL meeting after event postponed."
The Post reported that the crypto club said the event was "indefinitely postponed" after the city's Department of Education deemed it a "bad PR risk."
