Protesters Head to Mar-a-Lago for 'Die-In'

Tuesday, 12 June 2018 10:17 AM EDT

Demonstrators on Tuesday plan to picket President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach with a "die-in," to rally against what they say are too-lax firearms laws in the United States.

The Palm Beach Daily News reports the protesters will gather shortly before 10 a.m. on Flagler Drive -- across the water from Trump’s property.

Then, at 10:30 a.m., the picketers will lie will down as if dead for 12 minutes in remembrance of the 49 victims killed at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, in 2016, and others who have been killed in gun violence.

They also will pay tribute to the 17 students and adults who were shot dead on Valentine’s Day at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, as well as others who have been killed in gun violence.

The Palm Beach "die-in" is one of many being staged around the nation on Tuesday.
