Judicial Watch filed suit against the CIA, Department of Justice and the Treasury Department for records relating to intelligence leaks regarding the investigation of ousted national security adviser Michael Flynn and his communications with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

The conservative watchdog group said it filed suit after the agencies failed to respond to a Jan. 25 Freedom of Information seeking the documents.

Judicial Watch cites a CNN report that said calls between Flynn and Kisylak were captured by "routine U.S. eavesdropping" of Russian diplomats and that the White House was briefed about the calls before President Barack Obama left office.

"President Donald Trump is on to something," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "The Obama-connected wiretapping and illegal leaks of classified material concerning President Trump and General Flynn are a scandal. Judicial Watch aims to get to the truth about these crimes and we hope the Trump administration stands with us in the fight for transparency."

Flynn was later forced to resign.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that it and other news outlets "have reported on a campaign by former Obama administration officials and loyalists to spready highly classified information in a bid to handicap the Trump administration."

It said Flynn, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and White House adviser Sebastian Gorka have been targeted by numerous leaks designed to put their positions in the administration in jeopardy.
