Immigration raids in up to 10 major U.S. cities will take place starting Sunday morning as the Trump administration tries to crack down on the nation's immigration problems, according to a new report.
The Washington Post cited three U.S. officials as saying the raids are designed to capture as many as 2,000 families that have been slated for deportation. It's being called the "family op" at the Department of Homeland Security, the paper reported.
Among the cities to be targeted in the raids are Houston, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles.
President Donald Trump announced earlier this week that deportation raids would commence soon, vowing to "begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States. They will be removed as fast as they come in."
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director Mark Morgan later said the raids would first focus on people who have defied final deportation orders.
The raids, according to the Post, will last several days. Agents involved will use hotel rooms as staging areas as arrests are happening.
Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., meanwhile, does not believe that Trump's idea to deport millions of people is feasible because of a lack of resources.
