Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) was forced to release nearly 600 illegal immigrants convicted of sex crimes in 2015, more than a quarter of them because their home countries refused to take them back, the Washington Examiner reported.

Citing documents obtained by an immigration reform law firm, the Examiner reported that of 564 illegals released by ICE for legal reasons, 151 were on account of not being allowed to return to their native country.

Of the others released, 218 bonded out via an immigration judge and 12 were released due to "prosecutorial discretion," the Examiner reported.

"The anti-borders left routinely inject sanctimony into the immigration issue claiming that anyone with opposing arguments is morally inferior," Dale Wilcox, executive director of the Immigration Reform Law Institute, told the Examiner.

"But when statistics like this come out … they merely step over them like they don't exist," Wilcox told the Examiner.

Nearly 200 of the 564 released were convicted of "sexual assault," the Examiner reported, while 275 were convicted of "other sexual offenses."
