President Donald Trump's re-election campaign on Thursday slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decision to direct the House Judiciary Committee to draft impeachment articles, saying Democrats "should just get on with it so we can have a fair trial in the Senate and expose The Swamp for what it is."

"We are less than a year away from Election Day 2020 — and Democrats can't possibly explain to the American people why they want to take the decision of who should be president out of the hands of voters," campaign manager Brad Parscale said in a statement.

"But impeaching the president has always been their goal, so they should just get on with it so we can have a fair trial in the Senate and expose The Swamp for what it is," he said.

In a televised statement, Pelosi, D-Calif., said she instructed Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler to draft the impeachment articles because over the Ukraine saga because "the facts are uncontested.

"The president abused his power for his own personal political benefit at the expense of our national security," she said.

"The president leaves us no choice but to act because he is trying to corrupt once again the election for his own benefit."

Besides Pelosi, Parscale said senators should also call House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, also D-Calif., and Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President Joe Biden, to testify in its impeachment trial.

"Then, we can get back to the business of our country," he said.
