Days after making controversial comments about the Iran nuclear deal, President Barack Obama's deputy national security advisor is being asked to testify in front of Congress about the matter.
Ben Rhodes said in a recent New York Times Magazine profile that he "created an echo chamber" of support for the Iran agreement by controlling what the press was told.
According to
The Hill, Republicans now want Rhodes to testify in front of the House Oversight Committee during a hearing called "White House narratives on the Iran nuclear deal." The hearing is scheduled for next Tuesday.
Committee chairman Jason Chaffetz, a Utah Republican, said he would subpoena Rhodes if he has to, reports The Hill.
Republicans still disagree with the Iran nuclear agreement, which was adopted last October and was implemented in January. Rhodes' recent comments only
fueled their desire to continue pressing the Obama administration about the deal.
