Gingrich: Administration's Response to Syria Will Result in Defeat

By    |   Sunday, 16 June 2013 11:39 AM EDT

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said on Sunday that President Barack Obama’s move to arm the Syrian rebels was a “very badly thought-out process.”

“This will turn out to be one of those cases where the United States will set itself up to be defeated,” Gingrich said on ABC’s "This Week."

Obama last week committed to sending direct military aid to rebels fighting President Bashar-al-Assad — aid that Gingrich and other Republicans view as both tentative and tardy.

"This is an administration that does almost nothing that is methodical, careful and professional in national security," Gingrich said adding the White House has ignored the advice of generals in the past in national security mattters.
