Have you ever awakened from a dream wondering whether it was real?
Jenna Evans from San Diego has. The 29-year-old recently dreamed she swallowed her engagement ring, and awakend to discover it was gone. In a flash, she realized where it was — in her stomach, she told KGTV.
Evans said she often had vivid dreams and in this one she and fiancé Bobby Howell were dodging "bad guys" on a high-speed train. Afraid that they would steal the ring, Howell instructed her to remove it and swallow it.
"So I popped that sucker off, put it in my mouth, and swallowed it with a glass of water," Evans said in a Facebook post that has since gone viral.
After realizing what had happened, Evans and Howell trekked on over to an urgent care center, where X-rays showed the 2.4-carat diamond ring exactly where she thought it was.
Rather than let nature run its course, doctors recommended an upper endoscopy to retrieve the ring. The procedure was performed without incident, although Evans admitted to shedding a few tears of frustration.
"Apparently I don't do great with anesthesia because I came out of it hysterically crying and was totally inconsolable," she said.
With the ring back on her finger, Evans can see the funny side to the story.
"I feel very grateful that I got it back, and that this is a happy and funny story," she told KGTV. Evans has a history of sleepwalking and plans to see a sleep specialist to treat the condition. Meanwhile, she has promised not to swallow the ring again. The couple are "still getting married" in May next year and "all is right in the world," she added.
