The New Jersey State Attorney General's office has issued a civil subpoena to President Donald Trump's inauguration committee as investigators probe whether it violated any finance and/or fundraising laws.
ABC News reported that the subpoena was issued in the last few days, and that it concerns a civil case, not a criminal case.
"The PIC [Presidential Inauguration Committee] is in receipt of an Administrative Action Subpoena issued by the Attorney General of New Jersey, who is conducting through his Consumer Protection Division a civil inquiry related to the PIC. The PIC is in contact with staff regarding the inquiry," the committee told ABC in a statement.
Earlier this month, federal investigators from the Southern District of New York issued a subpoena to the Trump inauguration committee as well. The committee is under investigation for misusing funds and potentially having foreign connections.
