The chairman of NBC Entertainment has ripped Donald Trump as a "demented" individual whose "toxic" ramblings have led to the nation's "sad state of affairs."
"The sad state of affairs thanks to a pompous businessman turned reality TV star (whose show consistently ran LAST in its time period, by the way) who thinks speaking his mind is refreshing," Robert Greenblatt said in a private Facebook missive
obtained by The New York Post.
Greenblatt, whose arm of NBC produced Trump's shows "The Apprentice" and "Celebrity Apprentice" before the company cut ties with the billionaire real-estate tycoon, added:
"It's actually corrosive and toxic because his 'mind' is so demented; and his effect will unfortunately linger long after he's been told to get off the stage."
Asked for a comment, a rep for NBC told The Post: "Bob's Facebook page is not public."
Earlier this month, Greenblatt insisted Trump will never be allowed to return as host of "Celebrity Apprentice,"
according to Entertainment Weekly.
During a press tour for the Television Critics Association in Beverly Hills, Greenblatt — asked if the GOP presidential nominee would be back if he loses in November — responded: "No. "He would never be back on 'Celebrity Apprentice' as long as I'm here."
NBC and Trump broke off relations after he declared his presidential run last year, including
severing ties with Trump's beauty pageants.
NBC said the end came because of Trump's charge that illegal immigrants from Mexico were bringing crime and drugs across the border. But Trump insisted to Fox Business Network's Maria Bartiromo that he was the one who cut ties so he could make his run for president.
"I told them I'm not doing it; they didn't tell me. I told them I'm not doing it because I'm going to run for president," he explained. "When you run for president or when you run for any political office, you can't do a television show."
