The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is reserving $33 million in advertisements this fall with most of the money earmarked to help four embattled incumbents, Politico reported.
Most of the reservation funds will back Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada, Mark Kelly of Arizona, Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, and Raphael Warnock of Georgia.
Here is how the money breaks down:
- $8.4 million is reserved for ad spots in Nevada.
- $7.5 million in Arizona.
- $7 million in Georgia.
- $4 million in New Hampshire.
Another $3 million is being spent in Pennsylvania with $3 million more going to reserve spots in Wisconsin.
The expenditures are only the initial move by the Democrats' caucus campaign arm in a bid to retain control of the Senate, Poliltico noted. It pointed out that North Carolina is still considered a battleground.
"The GOP's roster of Senate candidates is defined by deep flaws, support for a damaging policy agenda and disqualifying personal vulnerabilities — and when general election voters learn about these Republicans they'll see why they have no place in the U.S. Senate," said Christie Roberts, the DSCC's executive director.
Politico said the National Republican Senatorial Committee has yet to place its initial reservations.
But the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC closely affiliated with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., is booking $125 million in TV ad reservations in about 50 media markets in a bid to win back the House for Republicans.
The House Majority PAC, the Democrats' main congressional super PAC, announced on March 30 it had reserved $101.8 million worth of television and digital-ad buys for the final months of the 2022 midterm cycle, as a means of retaining the Democrats' House majority.
