Europeans are "aghast" at the possibility of Donald Trump being elected president, according to former U.N. Ambassador Bill Richardson.
In an interview aired Sunday on
"The Cats Roundtable," the ex-New Mexico governor, who is supporting Hillary Clinton, declares the White House race is the "most important election we’ve had in many years."
Excerpts were released ahead of the airing by
The Hill.
"I travel a lot around the world and Europe and I could tell you in Europe, people are aghast at what’s happening in our presidential election," he said. "They’re, quite frankly, very worried about Donald Trump being elected.”
But he believes Clinton — who has
slipped in polling since the FBI released its scathing report on her misuse of a private email server while serving as secretary of state —
will get a bump after the Democratic National Convention later this month.
"I see her winning, but it’s going to be a very exciting year,” he said.
