Former Sen. Al Franken has launched his comeback on the lecture circuit with the show “An Evening with Al Franken,” in Portland, Oregon this October, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Tickets for the show, in which the former senator, who resigned in December 2017 after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him, tells stories about his time as a writer on “Saturday Night Live” and in the Senate.
In November, Franken started podcasting, later launching a website and a YouTube channel. He told The New Yorker in July that he regretted resigning from the Senate, and repeated his claim that he was falsely accused.
Franken recently signed with United Talent Agency, or UTA, as a public speaker. The agency’s website notes that “as the only speaker on the lecture circuit who has won 5 Emmys (Wikipedia missed two for producing), written 4 New York Times #1 best-sellers, taken home 2 Grammys, and served as a United States Senator, Al Franken brings a unique voice to the stage.”
The website notes in his bio that “Franken is delighted to talk about his fifteen seasons at ‘Saturday Night Live’— with behind-the-scene stories about the show’s evolution,” and that he “gives another rare behind-the-scenes look at an even longer-running institution — the United States Senate.”
