Rep. Adam Schiff said he is not going to make any predictions about where the probe into the Trump campaign's ties to Russia will lead.
"I'm not speculating about where we end up at the conclusion of our investigation," the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee said Wednesday on CNN's "New Day."
"I think we're still in the early stages. I think our obligation is to follow the evidence where it leads, and let the consequences fall as they will, depending on what we find," the California Democrat added.
Schiff mentioned Gen. Michael Flynn when host Chris Cuomo questioned whether any indictments were possible.
"The most I can say is, obviously, there are allegations now that Mike Flynn did not report the relationship he had with foreign powers, both Russia and Turkey . . . we know that his financial disclosures for ethics purposes were not complete."
The committee's focus remains on the Trump connection to Russia.
"We are not going to lose focus on that, no matter how much cloud and dust is thrown in our way," Schiff said.
Last week, the president praised Schiff's work, the congressman said, and the two had a "perfectly cordial meeting."
However, Rep. Joaquin Castro, another member of the committee, went further than Schiff and made a prediction of his own, that several people would be likely to end up in jail after the probe.
"I wouldn't be surprised," the Texas Democrat said.
