The results of a new poll show that Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is rapidly gaining on fellow presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., as the two contend for the White House.
Democracy for America released its poll results to Politico Monday morning, and the numbers show that Warren is just over 6 percentage points behind Sanders. Key results:
- 32.16% support Sanders for president.
- 25.78% support Warren.
- 11.81% back Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif.
- 9.53% support former Vice President Joe Biden.
The political action committee published a similar poll in April and found that Sanders had a lead of more than 30 points over Warren in the Democratic race for president.
"The last three months have transformed the 2020 Democratic race for president and these results make it clear that Democracy for America members' support is solidifying behind three candidates committed to bold, inclusive populism and structural reform," Democracy for America chairman Charles Chamberlain said.
According to the RealClear Politics polling average, however, Biden leads Sanders and Warren in the 2020 race.
