Democrats Should Try Rolling Up Sleeves on Environment

environmental clean up

Democrats and liberals talk a good game when it comes to a lot of issues — especially the environment. But they always come up short on the follow-through.

The latest example occurred over the weekend when conservative activist and Trump supporter Scott Presler was ruthlessly hounded for cleaning up what has become America’s most putrid cesspool — San Francisco.

Presler has made it his mission to clean up after vagrants in liberal strongholds, who litter the streets with tons of garbage, trash, used needles, and even human feces, calling it "an act of love."

When Presler tackled The City by the Bay he wasn’t alone.

His  team even included a small group of like-minded Generation Z volunteers — those born from the mid to late 1990s.

"We’re environmental stewards," the Virginia native said in a video he posted to Twitter. "We love our country, and we’re going to stop talking and start doing, and we love San Francisco!"

When Presler and his group hit the streets of San Francisco, they were met by a throng of liberal protesters chanting, "maggot, go home!" while displaying an uncanny ability to keep their middle fingers extended for prolonged periods.

Meanwhile, last week the FBI arrested Mohammed Nuru, San Francisco’s director of Public Works and the man actually responsible to keep the city streets clean. They charged him with bribery, wire fraud, violations of honest service, and "porta potty contract corruption."

Presler shouldn’t have been surprised by any of this.

It’s pretty much the way liberals and the Democratic Party have been rolling these days.

When thousands of Second Amendment supporters descended on Richmond, Virginia to protest that state’s long list of recent gun control measures, liberals predicted the worst.

What they got instead was a peaceful demonstration, where everyone picked up the trash before leaving as, what one participant said, was "a birthday present for [Virginia Gov.] Ralph Northam," a Democrat.

It didn’t matter whether it was their trash or it was someone else’s — it got picked up and properly disposed of.

Compare that to a counterpart rally — the March for Our Lives — an anti-gun protest initially organized and promoted by survivors of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Unlike Virginia’s impromptu demonstration, the March for Our Lives was financed through contributions totaling nearly $18 million, most of it from secret six-figure donations that were run through a 501(c)(4) non-profit "social welfare" organization.

Also unlike the Virginia protest, it never occurred to any of the demonstrators to pick up after themselves. Incredibly, despite all that cash floating around, they didn’t even consider hiring someone to clean the grounds. They made it someone else’s problem and left mounds of trash.

Demonstrators at the March For Life gather each year on or around January 22, the anniversary of Roe Vs. Wade, to proclaim their support for the sanctity of life in the womb. They also typically leave the grounds as clean as they found them.

Jennifer Bendery, senior politics reporter for the left-leaning HuffPost reported after one March For Life, that there were "No signs of a pro-life rally on the National Mall today, except for this sign honoring life — in the garbage."

While that observation was meant to be negative, it showed that the marchers had respect not just for life, but also for their environment.

In counterpoint to the March For Life, the Women’s March is held each year at about the same time, on Jan. 20. And you can also tell where they’ve been — they typically leave the grounds littered with tens of thousands of posters, placards, and signs for someone else to pick up.

"Democrats believe that climate change poses a real and urgent threat to our economy, our national security, and our children’s health and futures, and that Americans deserve the jobs and security that come from becoming the clean energy superpower of the 21st century," the party says under the heading "Environment."

But while Democrats are big on talk a, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was actually proposed and established by President Richard M. Nixon — perhaps the most reviled Republican president of the 20th century.

The party of Jefferson and Jackson is always talking about increasing the size of the Democratic "tent" to include new members.

They just expect someone other than themselves to keep the tent clean — and generally that would be Republicans and conservatives.
