A narrative shift is currently happening within the Republican Party, but it may not be found within the much anticipated general election in November.
Instead, the GOP’s evolution may be resting on the levels of firebrand conservatives running within the August primaries against establishment neoconservatives nationwide. Whether it be New Hampshire, Georgia or New York, the wave of liberty populism is moving the pieces for a big Republican victory come this fall.
Republicans hear a lot of smoke being blown by the usual culprits of establishment politicians and leaders virtue-signaling that this year will be the most critical election of our lifetimes. Still, true and tried conservatives should be getting the spotlight in challenging the status quo from many different parts of the country.
There may be no better example of an establishment politician than New York congressman John Katko.
The once-popular New Yorker has been proven to be nothing but a hypocrite, casting votes in the House for policies such as a vaccine database red flag laws in favor of endless war overseas. He has changed his position on abortion more times than can be accounted for.
Thankfully, Katko is retiring, leaving an open seat and Republican primary for the 2022 cycle. Republican Andrew McCarthy initially stepped up to the plate to challenge Katko for re-election but is thankfully running in the race for New York's 24th congressional district..
McCarthy is similar to other firebrand congressional candidates such as Washington’s Joe Kent or Florida’s Anthony Sabatini, running a campaign against the overreach of both the federal government, corporations and the corporate media onto the citizens of the United States, as well as how endless war and big tech have affected our people in the most authoritarian ways possible.
McCarthy bodes to be one of the rising stars of the liberty populist movement, and hopefully, he can prove that this year.
Up in New England, one candidate has earned the endorsements of conservative liberty allies Rand Paul and Thomas Massie for the race for New Hampshire’s 1st congressional district. Tim Baxter is a young voice in the movement, campaigning on the idea that after the lockdowns and authoritarian policies the Biden administration has embodied, the “Live Free or Die” state needs to elect a conservative that will adequately remove the impact the federal government has on its citizens lives such as the surveillance state.
Whether it be Baxter’s passion to eradicate socialism or the endless war that establishment politicians make at the forefront of foreign policy, Baxter continues to be the obvious choice in NH-01.
If any working-class has inspired the American people, it has been truckers against COVID-19 mandates in Canada. Luckily, Georgia has a trucker running as a firebrand conservative in Mike Collins for Georgia’s 10th congressional district.
Collins has formulated his approach by being one of the most prominent fundraisers and grassroots candidates in the 2022 cycle, besting his primary opponents by a long stretch in most polling. He is campaigning on the idea of a free market undisturbed by federal mandates, liberty and a limited federal influence by the government.
Fiscal responsibility, a free-market economy and backlash against authoritarian policies by the Fed are all approaches Collins embodies, and it would be tremendous to see a trucker win GA-10.
The ideas of liberty have been tossed aside in the past decade by many Washington D.C., favorites, be they Democrats or Republicans. But if these candidates tell us anything, the embrace by the voter bases of their campaigns proves that the Republican Party still does and can have a backbone.
