The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. remains one of America's greatest warriors against hypocrisies. His anti-institutional federal holiday eventually became an institution.

Signed into law by Republican President Ronald Reagan in 1983, MLK Day was first observed in 1986. In 2000 all 50 states officially observed it.

Dr. King's legacy is undeniably heroic. MLK openly rebuked Black and white American hypocrites, costing him his life.

MLK's "content of their character" remarks remain among our noblest American meritocratic guideposts in life and political matters. Fundamentally and contractually, nobody is better than anyone else.

Natural law and America's revolutionary Judeo-Christian-inspired Constitution enshrines this.

Herman Melville stated, "The spirit of equality [in America] did not merely cull selected champions from the kingly commons, but it spread one royal mantle of humanity over all Americans and brought democratic dignity to even the arm that wields a pick or drives a spike."

President Theodore Roosevelt intoned, "I am an American; free born and free bred, where I acknowledge no man as my superior, except for his own worth, or as my inferior, except for his own demerit."

Sadly, MLK's dream faces a crisis of trust. Politics are personal. Everything filters down to individuals by proper design. Three major sins caused personal trust to deteriorate: lies, hypocrisy, and betrayal. In 2022, all three accelerated the breakdown of Americans' sacred contract with our government.

"Hypocrisy" derives from the Greek term "actor," literally "one who wears a mask." Hypocrisy is pretending to be what one is not.

Hypocrisy can be acting in a manner contrary to one's publicly professed beliefs. Hypocrisy is our flawed selves looking down on others.

My last column offered "Some of 2022's Biggest Lies to Reject as False in 2023.Now I counter the hypocrisies behind the lies.

Like festering boils, American hypocrisies sit in broad daylight. They are blatantly offensive and false. May we rebuke and relentlessly challenge all modern programming that implies inauthentic realities must be tolerated.

We honor MLK's tradition of attacking hypocrisy with our 13½ Greatest Hypocrisies to Reject in 2023.

1. Legal borders essential to the safety of Americans and illegals are under control — unless unless Democrats seek to dilute the vote and deconstruct civil order to expand greater control and further progressivism.

2. Presidential integrity and documents matter — If the issue is Donald Trump and Republicans rather than Joe Biden, his family and Democrats.

3. The DOJ, FBI, and CIA are our protectors and blind eyes of American justice —  unless dealing with Trump and Republicans.

4. Presidential strength, power, and clarity of mind matter – exempting maybe, seemingly intellectually challenged Democrats.

5. 7,750 George Floyd protests were just and "mostly peaceful" — yet Jan. 6 was white supremacist, seditionist MAGA terrorism and totally unjust.

6. Caring for the middle class is paramount — unless recession, inflation, increased unemployment, Paycheck Protection Program, student loan forgiveness, reparations and rampant omnibus spending are needed to control Congress and expand progressive power and influence.

7. Censorship is an unacceptable anti-American, unconstitutional First Amendment violation — unless it protects and perpetuates liberal Democrats' agenda.

8. Climate change is a deadly immediate crisis that may end the world in 12 years — If it loses power to expand globalism and government control, then racism, vax-ism and Trump-ism are bigger threats.

9. COVID vaccines and boosters are effective and safe. Refusal is recklessly un-American. Immediately vaccinate your youngest kids against COVID — unless myriads of vaccinated people die of heart attacks and other issues.

10. Election fraud doesn't exist — unless a Democrat losing an election claims fraud.

11. Presidential integrity is essential to the office's highest standard — unless you're among the Biden elite progressive liberal class.

12. America remains predominantly systemically racist, xenophobic, homophobic and transphobic — unless the narrative doesn't serve the immediate needs of the progressive agenda to fundamentally transform America.

13. Russia's Ukraine invasion is despotic and evil — as long as it serves the narrative for Democrats to avoid failure domestically and keeps their spending flowing to special interests.

13½. Democrats put people over politics and everyday Americans over the wealthy — except when Democrats put bureaucrats over parents, regulations and mandates over human freedoms, and money from George Soros and Bill Gates over our laws and Constitution.

These hypocrisies are glaringly obvious. They are expressions of the broken character of progressive liberals, cultural Marxists, elitist globalists, plutocrats and technocrats indifferent to integrity or you personally. They worship money, power, and control. We must never normalize lies and hypocrisies.

Freedom is a constant cycle of failure and success with its risks. Occasionally falling down is permissible so long as we Americans continually strive for God's perfection.

Striving means never relenting. Reject all lies, hypocrisies and betrayals for what they are, just as MLK did.

This is personal.
