Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C, the lone Republican senator who is black, told Newsmax on Tuesday that President Donald Trump has "injected [Republicans] into a Democratic fight" by tweeting his suggestion that four leftist Democratic House Members "hate our country" and should "go back" to their respective countries.

Scott, who added he found the president's tweets "over the line and offensive," particularly bemoaned the fact his feud with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.; Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.; Ihan Omar, D-Minn.; and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass. came at a time Republicans were facing "the easiest win our party has had in a long time."

Specifically, Scott explained, he meant the "Green New Deal" championed by the four congresswoman denounced by Trump.

In his words, "the 'Green New Deal' calls for a 70% increase in the income tax, a 40% increase in the wealth tax, and Medicare for All."

The senator added all Republicans needed to do was focus on the key planks in this agenda of the far-left in order to win.

"And we also stopped Democrats from having their own conversation about things like busing and segregation — right out of the 1960's," said Scott, noting the recent Democratic presidential debates in which former Vice President Joe Biden came under fire for positions and associations he had early in his Senate career.

"If the Democrats are appropriating the 1960's," said the South Carolinian, "I'm sure not going to jump in the middle of it."
