Eric Holder could be mulling a run for president in 2020. He dropped the bombshell Wednesday morning at a Washington, D.C., press breakfast.

Holder, Barack Obama’s attorney general who now heads a nationwide campaign to end what he considers partisan gerrymandering of congressional and legislative districts, was asked if he would run for office at a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

“I’ll see if there’s another chapter in my government service,” he replied, adding that any announcement of his future plans would come after the November 2018 elections.

Asked by Newsmax if that meant he would run for president, Holder told me, “We’ll see.”

The first black to serve as the nation’s top law enforcement official, Holder also served as deputy U.S. attorney general under President Clinton. He currently heads the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, which seeks to end gerrymandering by electing Democrats committed to ending the partisan process for drawing congressional and legislative districts.

Were Holder to run, he would be the first former attorney general to seek the presidency since Robert Kennedy in 1968.
