A week before the election, Republican State Attorney General Josh Hawley continued to maintain his lead over Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.

According to a Cygnal Poll released Tuesday, Hawley leads two-termer McCaskill 49-46 percent. The same survey showed 1 percent favored a third-party candidate and 3 percent were undecided. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.38 percent.

Cygnal's findings came two days after the respected Missouri Scout poll showed Hawley leading McCaskill 49-45 percent.

Perhaps the most interesting portion of the poll was its finding women were almost tied for the two contenders, with McCaskill favored by women only 48-47 percent. In contrast, men favored Hawley 52-46 percent.

"Claire McCaskill has shown the people of Missouri that she is much more interested in what lobbyists in Washington and left-wing liberals in Hollywood think than they do," former Republican state House Speaker Tim Jones told Newsmax. "And that is exactly why Attorney General Hawley is opening up a significant lead in all public polls – a lead that will only continue to grow as more Missourians understand that Josh will vote for them as much as McCaskill has voted against them in Washington, DC."
