Thanksgiving is a wonderful, American holiday – enjoy it with loved ones and some wonderful American entertainment. But if you’d like to avoid formulaic tripe wrapped in woke dogma, may we recommend these 10 films that slipped positive, conservative, nationalistic messages past the goalie.
Our list doesn’t include movies like Ghostbusters, Forrest Gump, and Juno that have populated conservative watch lists for so many years.
Instead, these are all relatively recently released films that warn against the globalist-communist agenda, even if the warning’s only implicit. Hopefully, these may start a conversation with less-based loved ones you may have!
10. Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
A young man is inducted into a secret society established by the British monarchy to vanquish a tech tyrant who, in the name of “fighting global warming,” has weaponized technology to make people hate and kill each other … because that will “save the planet.”
That plan hardly seems like fiction these days!
9. Inferno (2016)
Based on the Dan Brown book of the same name, Inferno didn’t capture the attention that The Davinci Code did a decade earlier, but it has a similar idea to Kingsmen: a billionaire elitist is convinced we need to kill lots of humans to save the planet because of overpopulation. Cherry on top? After Tom Hanks beats him, he learns his lady assistant has just had a baby.
8. Quantum of Solace (2008)
Regarded as one of the weakest Bond films, Quantum of Solace was criticized for its very bland, down-to-earth villain. But that’s the film’s secret genius. Mathieu Amalric’s villain is a businessman working in environmental and “nonprofit” charities to foment chaos and expand his global power. The film nails hypocritical elitists so well it shows them holding their evil meetings at an opera!
Not as theatrical as, say, a super-villain who steals diamonds to make a giant space-laser, but this baddy sounds a lot like the real super-villains of our day.
7. Blood Diamond (2006)
Speaking of diamonds, this Leonardo DiCaprio vehicle explicitly illustrates how woke corporations manipulate public sentiment to drive profits, while shielding themselves from criticism. The movie starts with multinational diamond companies announcing they won’t deal in conflict diamonds, but ends by showing them in league with smugglers.
By “opposing” conflict diamonds publicly, they privately keep the supply low and the prices high.
6. Captain America: Winter Solider (2014)
Moving from cautionary tales about corrupt corporations to corrupt governments, we have Captain America vs the Deep State. Armed with his WWII-era concepts of good and evil, Cap learns of the intelligence community’s evil plan to find and eliminate people who might threaten their communist takeover of the world.
If you’re not a Marvel fan, Spectre and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation told the same story. But Winter Soldier is the best, even ending with Black Widow wikileaking the bad guy’s schemes like Edward Snowden. Speaking of which …
5. Snowden (2016)
Remember when Barack Obama talked about how “we don’t like federal agents poking around in our libraries” in 2004? Well, it seems like Edward Snowden sure as hell did when he found out that Obama’s three-letter acronym agencies designed to protect us were spying on us, basically all the time.
After revealing all these dirty secrets to the press, the only safe place for Snowden was Russia. Think about the irony of that, those of us who remember communism.
4. The Hunger Games (2012-2015)
Based on Suzanne Collins best-selling YA series, The Hunger Games (and its sequels) show a dystopian future where technological oligarchs dominate the rest of the country. This evil government is so clearly meant to communist, that their flag uses the same color scheme as both China and the Soviet Union.
The evil capitol is eventually overthrown when the country’s thirteen districts (cough cough symbolism) rise up against them. Our hero, Katniss, even comes from West Virginia – coincidentally the state Trump won by the biggest margin and home to the last sensible Democrat in Washington.
3. The Book of Eli (2010)
Reassuringly based Denzel Washington wanders a post-apocalyptic America, quite literally on a mission from God to ensure that the people of the future have the Bible to help lead them to a better future.
Wait – seriously? Hollywood made this?!?!?
2. Captain America: Civil War
It might be cheating to put two Captain America movies on this list, but wouldn’t it be scary if movies about this most American of icons weren’t telling conservative stories? It starts with Cap finding inspiration to fight a globalist takeover of the Avengers, after he hears a sermon in a church …
… and the movie ends with him beating a misguided technocrat into submission with an American flag. Win win!
V for Vendetta (2005, Honorable Mention)
Writer Alan Moore is certainly no friend to conservative causes; indeed his politics could probably best be described as clinically insane.
But his comic book, which was packaged as anti-Bush when the film adaption was released, shows how a fascist state can rise to power because bad actors exploited an epidemic.
"NOPE. NOTHING TO SEE HERE. GET YOUR BOOSTERS AND KEEP YOUR MASKS ON, PEASANTS."
1.The World’s End (2013)
While not as popular as its predecessor Hot Fuzz, Edgar Wright’s sci-fi comedy features a gloriously anti-globalist message against the backdrop of a pub crawl in a sleepy English village.
Aliens have been replacing humans with a more compliant population (yikes), while giving the Earth advanced technology to indoctrinate them (double yikes). The main characters – British peasants – push back, years before Brexit. (NSFW language)
There’s our list of anti-woke, anti-communist movies. Did we miss any? Let us know, and happy Thanksgiving!
