Younes Abouyaaquoub, the suspected van driver in the deadly Barcelona terror attack, left behind a messy apartment and framed photos containing versus from the Quran, the Daily Mirror reported Sunday.
Abouyaaquoub, 22, is on the run after he allegedly rammed a van into a packed Barcelona promenade, killing 13 people and injuring 120. He lived in his flat with his wife and two young children and played football on a pitch outside his home in the small town of Ripoll, a town 62 miles north of Barcelona, the day before the attack.
Police rummaged through his home after the attack and The Sun published photos from his apartment, including one of a book titled “The Life of Prophet Muhammad,” which was found inside the bedroom.
Police believe a terror cell of up to 12 men were behind the terror attacks, including five who were shot dead and four who were arrested.
