WikiLeaks Seeks to Erode American Power

Monday, 29 November 2010 10:15 AM EST

WikiLeaks, which has just released a mass of secret documents about U.S. foreign policy, clearly has no concern for U.S. global interests – not to mention the lives of our officials and allies. Indeed, the group’s aim apparently is to weaken America’s standing around the world, Politico reports.

obama, wikileaks, power, white-house"The impression is of the world's superpower roaming helpless in a world in which nobody behaves as bidden," Sir Simon Jenkins writes in London’s Guardian, a left leaning paper that received Wiki’s documents.

“The WikiLeaks fiasco crystallizes for Obama a new challenge: restoring the sense that the United States can effectively project its power,” Politico states.

The problems revealed in the documents don’t involve American arrogance or meddling in other countries’ affairs. Instead the issue is the Obama administration’s inability to follow through on its commitments.
